It all starts with sorting the garments that the clients bring. The cleaners empty the bags of garments to group them into different piles. Dress shirts, hand-wash items, and those suitable for dry cleaning each have their designated space.

To prevent color bleeding, the cleaners further sort the garments by color, setting the stage for the next step of the process.

This is pre-spotting, which involves identifying and treating obvious stains before the main cleaning process begins. 

Using specialized solvents, the cleaners break down stains without compromising the garment’s integrity. Brushes – tough enough to remove the stains but delicate enough so the garment is safe – gently scrub away the stains, ensuring the removal process is both effective and delicate. 

Once the stains are treated, the items move on to the dry cleaning machine to undergo the dry cleaning cycle. A cleaning cycle typically lasts around 90 minutes, time the cleaners use to pre-spot other garments.

Once the cleaning cycle is complete, the team checks for stain removal. If successful, the garments proceed to the pressing stage. If not, the cleaning process may be repeated, but no more than once since three plus cycles could damage the fabric.

Dry Cleaning Steps – What Comes After The Cleaning Cycle?

The cleaners send the spotless garments to the pressing stage, where they are either manually pressed or steamed. 

The items go through steam tunnels or body-shaped steamers to eliminate wrinkles, while heat presses flatten and crease items like dress pants and shirt sleeves. The pressed garments are then ready for the assembly phase.

In the assembly stage, the clerks assemble all the garments to prepare them for the bagging stage. This step involves thorough quality checks to ensure a flawless outcome – no lingering stains, every customer request fulfilled, and the assurance that the garment leaves the facility in better condition than when it arrived.

As each garment is assembled, the clerks scan its unique barcode to integrate it into the system. The system then guides the clerk to place the item on the designated Assembly Rack (AR Rack). During this process, any special tags added based on customer preferences are carefully removed.

Once all items in an order find their place on their respective AR racks, the system generates a receipt. It serves as a detailed record of the order and signals the moment for the order to be taken off the AR rack and sent for the bagging process.

The process repeats until all items scheduled for the day have been successfully assembled.

Next up is the bagging step, a crucial one in presenting the garments with utmost care and attention to detail. At Timeless Cleaners, we adhere to a few guidelines when bagging items.

• Quantity Control: No more than three garments are placed in a single bag to maintain an organized and tidy appearance.

• Gender Separation: Men’s and women’s items are never bagged together, ensuring a clear distinction and preventing potential confusion.

• Dress Shirt Attention: For dress shirts, we use collar stays and arm pins to preserve their form and quality during transportation.

• Set Pairing: Sets such as suit pants and jackets are carefully paired for easy retrieval and a streamlined customer experience.

• Color Coordination: We strive to bag items in color order, enhancing the visual appeal and making it easier for you to locate your garments.

• Quality Check: Despite earlier quality checks during assembly, our dedicated team re-evaluates each item during the bagging process to ensure perfection.

• Order Prioritization: When handling larger orders, items are strategically placed from thinnest to thickest. Dress shirts take precedence, followed by blazers, pants, heavy jackets, and dresses, ensuring a well-organized and secure arrangement.

Once all items in an order are bagged, a detailed receipt containing order specifics and a new barcode is generated. To further streamline the process, orders are bundled together using rubber bands, twist ties, or stapling for smaller orders. The completed orders are then moved to the designated racking location, ready for pickup.

The Final Dry Cleaning Step

The final stage of the entire process is bagging. As you step into our cleaning facilities, you’ll notice the conveyor systems, each spot adorned with a barcode placed for efficient order processing.

These conveyors boast two rack types – the regular and the long rack. The long rack is reserved for larger orders, strategically designed with barcodes spaced farther apart to accommodate more items per spot.

Our clerks expertly maneuver the racks to find an available barcode spot. Once identified, they scan both the spot’s barcode and the barcode printed on your assembly ticket. This secures your order to that specific spot on the rack until you arrive for collection.

Upon your visit, providing your phone number links you directly to your order’s rack location. This process facilitates the clerks in swiftly locating your order amidst the racks.

After both barcodes are scanned, our system automatically sends you a text notification. In no more than 5 minutes, you’ll receive a message alerting you that your order is ready, along with the precise address for pickup. This ensures a quick and hassle-free retrieval process, allowing you to enjoy your freshly cleaned items promptly.
